Snowdonia Odyssey - Day three

A day in the glyders

Well..

Considering the low cloud, the rain and the stiff breeze, the planned scramble up Tryfan's slippery rocks into the view-obscuring white, suddenly didn't seem a good idea.

Plan 'B' took us on a low level route touring around the waters Llyn Ogwen, Llyn Idwyl and Lyn Bochlwryd, taking in the Devil's Kitchen and Milestone Buttress.

There's a story there...

As we neared Idwal Cottage visitor centre we noticed another helicopter hovering.

We start chatting with a member of the Mountain Rescue crowd that had congregated at Idwal as we drank a cup of tea. Apparently there was a young girl up in the mist that had fallen and dislocated her shoulder. But it wasn't as bad as it sounds as she had done it before!

"Come on, stop taking pictures!"

Llyn Idwal in the mist...

...and rain...
...very moody.

Quite a few climbers out today:

Somewhere along this 'day off', just before the foot of Milestone Buttress, my left foot slid sideways off a greasy rock and wedged itself at an improbable angle between two others. Bugger. Later, as the evening wore on, I would see it miraculously double in size. More bugger. Pass the scotch...

At least I hadn't dislocated any shoulders...

Rare spotted underpants

DofE beetles

Full moon, open fire, home cooked (prepared) food and whisky.
Perfect conditions for talking blox.
