Japan 2017 Intro / Day One

Introduction

To Japan?
Really?
Yes, but we’d have to save up… No holiday next year, we’ll go in two years.
Two Years!!
Small price. It was extraordinary.

Day one - travel day

Taxi to the airport. We were hungry. Out of all the places… Wagamama. We thought it was typical Japanese at the time. We were wrong...

Three movies and a fitful sleep we arrived at Tokyo International 11½  hours later (7:10 local time).

Debarkation is delayed do to an ill passenger.

Airport security was a bit high tech: They had fingerprint scanners and took our photos!

A hurried chat with a Wendy Wu rep and a 40 minute unaccompanied bus trip, mostly under the city took us to our first hotel. The ‘Ut Wisi Enim’. What glimpses we get of Tokyo above ground show us a very clean busy city. The cherry blossom is out.

Because of the time difference, it’s early morning and we can’t book in until 2pm. We are a little weary so the morning is spent listlessly wandering the hotel and adjoining shopping centre until lunch, then more listlessing until the check in at 2pm lets us nap until dinner.
Our first meeting with a loo seat with a built in dual bidet.
Careful around those buttons!
Alex naps through dinner.
We meet our guide for the tour - Akiko - and get acquainted with our fellow travellers. It seem they are all Australians bar one.
