PCW Day Eleven

Wooler to Berwick-on-Tweed - Saturday, 1st August

31 miles cycled

Overcast and rainy day. Failed to get away by 9:00

So many pubs, so little time...
Between the Angel and yet another Black Bull is Milan, last night's venue.

Breakfasted in Wooler and eased into the day on fast country roads skirting the flood plain North of Wooler.

The repairs our bikes seemed to be holding up but it looked like the camera was a bit worse for wear.

We saw a bit of excitement at Hatherslaw Light Railway...

...and then had a nice lunch at pretty Etal Post Office..

...before a very average pint at another Black Bull.

Who's bike is that?

A quick visit to the castle completed the visit.

Back on fast country roads.

Chainbridge over the Tweed
At Chainbridge we cross the River Tweed and...

...experience Scotland for a few miles...

.As we near Berwick we can start to smell the sea.

No 'Finish' line so we try declare the journey's end at the Town Hall in Marygate.

No fanfares, just a fat bloke and a thin bloke on the town hall steps.

We thought we would treat ourselves to a bit of luxury but the YH was fully booked.

So we headed for Seaview Campsite.

Quite an easy last day really, the stiffest climb was to the campsite.

We were determined to celebrate and so headed to the Magna Tandoori on the recommendation of the campsite warden.

We weren't impressed, but we were full.

We tried to take our mind off it at the food and beer fair we'd seen fliers for. That was better. The food fair was closed but there were some good local beers and ciders on offer. Live local bands as well.

Suitably fed and watered we retired.

Summery despatch:
"Last day today.
30 miles to Berwich.
And it's raining."

Siganl from basecamp:
"Well done, you deserve a good rest."
